Forum Issues

We’re currently fighting with coldfusion and system load issues. The upgraded coldfusion version didn’t help quite as much as we had hoped it would.
Forum availability will likely be uncertain for the next few days, as we continue to work to resolve our problems.
Meanwhile, feel free to join the irc channel (or use the web version).

Damn it an now where am I giong to post Naruto chapter 296
Forums are back up.
or … self-destructed again …
Just dump ColdFusion and switch to a PHP/MySQL solution. It’s free and reliable. You can’t go wrong.
Yeah, I know…you’re probably too far down that path to turn around and do something else.
yeah, coldfusion is for the forums, which are … umm … coldfusion-based.
PHP/MySQL is all well and good. So’s tomcat+coldfusion+mod_jk, if we can get that working.
One thing you learn in this game … you’re never too far down the path to pull a 180. Right now we’re exploring several options. The most promising (because it doesn’t involve spending more money) is the one we’re working on, and on our test instance it seems like a really good idea, albeit with a couple of kinks we’re still working out. But if that path ends up not working out — if we run into prohibitive issues that lead to us deciding it’s infeasible, our next step would be to migrate to vbulletin, chucking coldfusion, jrun, and fusetalk like so much jetsam.
The question on everybodys lips is : How long will it take?
